Listen, I don’t care how good a mouse trap you build, that alone won’t get your diary full of happy customers. You can be the most technically proficient expert, if no one knows about you, you’ll struggle. So many therapists go on to study more and more methods, adding Reiki, EFT, Hypnotherapy and so on to an already long list of abilities, mistakenly thinking that the more approaches you know the more people will want you.

You see, you can be the best listener in the world. You may be able to turn people's lives around or make chronic pain disappear -- but if no one knows about you and what you can do for them, you'll go nowhere.

The faster you understand this truth, the closer you are to becoming a well-paid, highly-respected helping professional. You might be a coaching wizard or an expert Therapist, but that won't fill your practice. Sorry.

No matter how great your technical skills are or how effective your coaching program is, your practice will wither away and die like many, if you can’t convince people to buy your services.

You could have the fountain of youth in your back garden, but if you don’t market and promote yourself, you’ll live a long time broke!

Unfortunately, you've never been taught what it really takes to have a thriving Therapy or Coaching practice. Curious to know what they are?

You may have been TOLD that as long as you give out some flyers, offer some gift certificates or coupons, do some free chair Therapy or Coaching sessions, give out business cards, attend some health fairs, and maybe have a Yellow Pages ad, that it will be only a matter of time until you have a thriving Therapy or Coaching practice.

Say goodbye to the 2^nd myth - that to market yourself you need to make horrible cold calls and sell yourself in ways that make you squirm.

But When I Use the Word 'Marketing' Most People Start to Cringe and Squirm. But You Don't Have to...

You see, there is a misconception in the professional services industry that you have to "sell yourself" by telling people what you do and how great you are. Nothing could be further from the truth.

You can choose what I call, "seduction-based marketing," in which you play the role of a slick salesperson going out there with an agenda and trying to convince. Or you can choose to deliver an "attraction-based marketing" message, which puts you in the role of an educator.

Attraction-based marketing is the exact opposite of seduction-based marketing, which is built around a sales pitch and is often delivered using methods that brazenly convince and browbeat prospective clients. Examples of seduction-based marketing could be telephone calling, unsolicited direct mail, and blatant advertising.

With Attraction-Based Marketing, the method of marketing I teach, your message is built around the sharing valuable information. Your educational message replaces your selling message. With attraction-based marketing, you look for opportunities to give away your valuable information, which positions you as the "logical" and "only" choice for your prospect.

Ø You give prospects what they really want, which is information and advice and remove what they don't want, a sales pitch.

Ø You establish yourself as a credible authority because prospects see you as a reliable source of information and advice.

Ø You gain a competitive advantage because few, if any of your competitors are using Attraction-based marketing in their marketing efforts.

Ø You can multiply your marketing efforts by presenting your best and most powerful marketing messages, even when you're not present.

Ø You feel good about yourself because people will appreciate your help and advice.

The 3rd myth is that any self-employed business must make a loss for the first 2 years.

While IT IS TRUE that only 19% of businesses survive the first 5 years in business, it is AN ABSOLUTE LIE that you have to make no money for the first two! Why on earth would anyone in their right mind start up an earning stream knowing that it will bleed money like a stuck pig for the first year, and if they’re lucky, it might gasp into life in year three?

When I launched my full time Practice in 1997, I was in profit in month one. In month two I doubled my income. It then grew steadily by about an extra 30% each and every year. That means my income doubled every three years. And that was without any coaching, any mentor, any game plan and zero support. I did everything myself – marketing, speaking, Coaching, appointment making, designing leaflets, leafleting, janitor – it was a one man corporation! I’m sure you know the feeling.

If you’re a sole proprietor then you know that running your own business by yourself can be a long and lonely road, no one understands your problems and everyone thinks you ought to go and get a real job. It’s tough, takes all of your time and sometimes you wonder why you started.

And because 90% of practitioners really haven't a clue about how to present themselves (in fact, most avoid marketing like the bubonic plague), most clients are very confused about how to select a good one. And that's a good thing for YOU because; if you'll only learn the right way to present and advertise ...it really won't take much to outshine your competition.

I firmly believe that if you devote even a fraction of your time into learning how to MARKET yourself as you do into learning your trade itself ... you'll find yourself among the 5% who can pick and choose their own clients and write their own pay packet!
